Frequently Asked Question
Galaxy Empower is a health insurance plan by Galaxy Health Insurance Company Limited specially designed for persons with disabilities and HIV/AIDS. It breaks barriers by offering financial security and medical assistance to those who need it the most.
Persons with 40% or more specified disability (as certified under the Disability Act 2016) are eligible. Individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS by a qualified doctor with a CD4 count above 350 are also eligible.
Adults between 18 and 65 years of age can be covered. Dependent children from newborn up to 17 years of age can also be included.
Galaxy Empower offers two sum insured options: ₹4 Lakhs and ₹5 Lakhs. These are available under the individual cover type.
Galaxy Empower is a 1-year policy. It needs to be renewed every year to continue enjoying the coverage benefits.
The premium can be paid in Monthly, Quarterly, or Half-yearly instalments. This makes the policy affordable and easy to manage.
No pre-acceptance medical screening is required. However, if an applicant declares adverse medical history, the company may ask for a pre-policy check-up — the full cost of which is borne by the company.
A mandatory co-payment of 20% applies on all claims. An optional add-on cover is available to waive this co-payment on payment of additional premium.
Room rent is covered up to 1% of the sum insured per day. ICU charges are covered up to 2% of the sum insured.
Yes, road ambulance charges are covered up to ₹2,000 per hospitalisation. This applies each time the insured is hospitalised.

If the insured's CD4 count falls below 150, a lumpsum benefit of 100% of the sum insured (or available balance, whichever is less) is paid out. This provides critical financial support at an advanced stage.

Specific diseases and illnesses have a waiting period of 24 months. Claims related to these conditions are not payable during this period.
